A importância das áreas verdes urbanas para o desenvolvimento da sensibilização ambiental

Abstract

Our planet has undergone numerous transformations of anthropogenic origin, which usually has caused many damages to the environment, driven mainly by our way of life. The urban lifestyle is one of the main causes of environmental problems, since the installation of cities usually occurs in an unplanned way. Although life in the city is not always healthy, more and more urban population density has increased. Several factors have led to rural exodus, such as employability, housing, security, more comfort, because of this, more and more the process of urbanization has intensified. On the other hand, to absorb these people, it is necessary to deforest, waterproof the soil, there is more emission of water and atmospheric pollutants, greater exposure to stress, congestion, long working hours and a sense of insecurity. The sum of these factors determines the decrease of quality in the city. Studies indicate that the existence of urban green areas contribute to the mitigation of these negative impacts, however, the urban green areas have been decreasing each time, more to give way to progress. Therefore, the importance of the preservation of urban green areas becomes evident, and environmental education is an important instrument for this. This work aims to infer about the importance of green areas in the urban perimeter, as well as on the perception of the inhabitants of the city of Lauro de Freitas on the function of the same to maintain quality of life in urban centers.
