Triclosan (TCS) and triclocarban TCC are common antimicrobials applied in personal care products such as soaps, shampoos and toothpastes. These products are largely used worldwide and introduced to aquatic environments, reaching concentrations of ng L-1 and µg L-1. According to the literature, TCS and TCC can be harmful to aquatic organisms, showing acute affects under 1 mg L-1, however few studies show their effects at environmental concentrations. In this study ecotoxicity of triclosan and triclocarban were analyzed in two different approaches. One considering environmental concentrations of TCS, TCC and their mixture using three trophic levels (D. subspicatus, D. magna and R. quelen) and the other considering mixture interactions between these compounds though reference models evaluating acute endpoints to D. magna. At environmental concentrations, R. quelen embryos presented morphological effects and enzyme alterations to catalase, acetylcholinesterase and superoxide dismutase. To D.magna, it was evaluated reproduction and biochemical endpoints in multigenerational exposure. To this organism late reproduction and biochemical alterations related to oxidative stress were observed. On the second part of this work TCS and TCC mixtures were evaluated though acute assay where it was possible to fit its interactions on CA reference model with DR deviation through MIXTOX tool.
