The objective of this work is to substantiate the proposed of introduction of educational games as additional methodology in the process of teaching and learning Biology. The study of Cell or Cytology is considered by students as one of the most complex themes due to its abstract feature especially when the subject refers to the Plasma Membrane. One of the factors that contribute to this difficulty of understanding are the teaching methods used they were prepared for the teaching and learning of the past generations and therefore became ineffective for the learning of today's youth that was born in the digital age and learning through interaction with new technologies. With this, it is essential to introduce new teaching methodologies that facilitate the creation of abstraction and mental representations and that are part of everyday life of the student arousing his interest in building their own knowledge in an active way. A descriptive literature review was built through research and bibliographic search in books, scientific articles and websites addressing the difficulties in teaching Cytology, changes in the allocation of knowledge through the generations, contributions to teaching and learning of the use of educational games and some electronic games available on the internet involving the theme Cytology. It is hoped that this work can contribute to the teaching of Physics and Chemical Sciences, since they also have microscopic and abstract contents of learning difficult.
