In this paper, it is performed an approaching of an active vibration control in a flexible rotor in a computing environment of a flexible rotor using electromagnetic actuator and linear matrix inequalities. The rotor shaft is modeled by finite elements using the method Timoshenko´s beam element, which has the following features: the element has 2 nods, each of them has 4 degrees of freedom, in other words, two degrees of displacement and two degrees of rotation. In order to control the vibration of the structure, it was used a hybrid bearing, which is built with ball bearing and electromagnetic actuators. The model of the electromagnetic actuator was linearized. Thus, conditions are proposed to analyze and design controllers based on Linear Matrix Inequalities (LMI). The controllers that were utilized was the LQR (Linear Quadratic Regulator) and the LQR solved by LMI. The simulation results demonstrated the effectiveness of the LMI tool for control applications.
