dc.description.abstractThis paper focuses on the theoretical point of view, conceptual and practical planning of the implementation of Lean Office in a public office purchases and procurement of the Department of Material Resources of the São José dos Campos, State of Sao Paulo. It is proposed to use this public setting, preconceived notions relying on methods that were originally developed for the factory production line (Lean manufacturing) and later adapted for the office environment (Lean Office). The study was developed in essence of applied mode and as its purpose progressed exploratory and descriptive, with literature review, interviews with server survey (survey) by semi-structured interviews and by observing all to collect necessary information, to map the flow of the actions that happen to the industry, eliminate waste, improve continuously. It was noted that through the gradual practice of Lean ideology in the department there were improvements in the organization and cycle (lead time) the production chain, such as the determination of replacement of disposable cups water and coffee to be made available only to the public external, while the departments, servers should switch to using cups, mugs or brought personal squeezes house. That said, in view of what was observed and the results, it seems possible that lean thinking idealized for the office environment (Lean Office) can be gradually improved the environment of a public office and yield good results, shaping became increasingly the managerial model of public administration at the expense of the bureaucratic model
