dc.description.abstractNowadays, with globalization, technological advances and several cultural influences, as well as people's desire for products consumption, foreign expressions, mainly from the English language have become common and much more current in the Portuguese language. This paper aims to present the importance of the use of foreign expressions in Portuguese language to the linguistic enrichment and demonstrate the marketing effects that the expressions in English language may cause in Brazilian Portuguese language when applied in magazines advertisements in Brazilian media. For that, some theory about opinions and studies on the insertion and use of foreign expressions, mainly Anglicism, in the Portuguese language were analyzed as well as the importance of a language in the socio-cultural context and the interference that those linguistics expressions would give to Portuguese language. The corpus analyzed to demonstrate the implications of foreign expressions' use and linguistic character through the use of these foreign expressions is related to some advertisements of automobilist, technological and beauty products presented in some editions of the Brazilian magazine Istoé from 2011 to 2014.
