Abstract

As one of the main elements related to the socioeconomic development of a region, roadways must support the minimum requirements of traffic safety, comfort and operational economy. As soon as it is noticed that the roadway is no longer able to support those requirements, an intervention is needed in order to recover its ideal functional and structural attributes. The choice of studying the BR-163 segment between São Miguel do Oeste and Dionísio Cerqueira (SC) is justifiable due to innumerous pavement defects and failures that are significantly interfering with the roadway users.
