Indicadores de desempenho ambiental como ferramenta avaliativa do sistema de gestão ambiental em uma empresa alimentícia após a certificação ISO 14001

Abstract

With today's high market competitiveness, it becomes necessary to stand out from the competition. Increasingly, companies are seeking market superiority by addressing environmental concerns, with implementations of Environmental Management Systems and ISO 14001 certification. Those that when properly implemented, performing monitoring, maintenance and always seeking continuous improvement of the system, must provide a number of benefits to the company as well as the environment as the company's environmental performance tends to improve significantly. The main objective of the work was to carry out a verification of environmental performance at management level in the company, in two periods, before and after ISO14001 certification. Thirty-five indicators were listed to later verify the possible evolution of the company's environmental performance after obtaining the certification. . The objectives of the company were raised when seeking implementation of ISO 14001 certification listing possible benefits to the objectives described. Charts were used to analyze the results, and sought to highlight the change in the company's environmental performance after obtaining ISO 14001 certification, reaching 97,14% of indicators met positively after certification, representing 34 (thirty four) of the 35 (thirty five) indicators of Managerial Environmental Performance analyzed. Pointing out how beneficial it can be for the company when properly implemented.
