dc.description.abstractWith the increasing use of the Internet and new technologies especially social media, communication tends to popularize. In line with this moment the public administration also realized in social media tools a new bias of communication. The availability of public information supported by advances in information and communication technology tools - ICTs - imposed new demands and opportunities for public management. This model can be understood as a dynamic instrument being the basis of an open and democratic communication platform, it can also be understood as an instrument of city image maintenance. This thesis aims to analyze the role of Facebook of the Curitiba City Hall as a public communication tool from the perspective of their own City Hall. The intention is to understand what is the main aim of the use of this instrument? What are the motivations and values that the page looking forward to your users? Who are these users? What language techniques used? Thus, this work presents a Facebook page analysis of the Curitiba City Hall, because of its distinctive language and the large number of followers compared to other Brazilian cities. They will be analyzed and interpreted the 30 most commented posts in 2015, using content analysis by a group of logical-semantic indicators. The main findings reinforce the idea that the City, when creating your Facebook page, aims to reach young people in particular and create a consensus on the city's image, helping to legitimize the model city project
