Chia grain has great nutritional because, as it is rich in unsaturated fatty acids, fiber, proteins, carbohydrates, dosen’t present gluten and when hydrated produces a mucilage. Is a new species in Brazil and little is known about its cultivation. To know its potentialities the objective of the work was to evaluate the allelopathic activity of aqueous extracts of Chia leaves on the initial development of Avena strigosa, Lolium multiflorum and Raphanus sativus. The experiment was developed the Universidade Técnologica Federal do Paraná, Dois Vizinhos, using extracts of Chia leaves at concentrations 1, 2.5 and 5% in black oat, ryegrass and forage turnip plants. Twenty five seeds with 10 mm of Gerbox extract were used. Germination was doned out in a growth chamber (B.O.D.) at ± 24 ° C, with photoperiod of 12/12 light / dark hours. Germination rate (IVG), germination (%), aerial part (PA), root system (SR) and mean germination time (TMG) were determined. The data were analyzed through analysis of variance and Tukey's test a (p≤0.05). As results obtained it can be verified that the aqueous extracts of the leaves of Chia did not influence in the germination and initial development of the Black oats. However, they restricted the root system (cm) of ryegrass. For forage turnip they influenced their rate of germination speed, root system and germination.
