dc.description.abstractThis paper presents the development of a system for automatic adjustment of the light field of a surgical light according to the distance between it and the illuminated surface, thus to reduce the risk of hospital infections and optimizing the use of surgical light on surgical procedures. The system allows to turn on or off the automatic adjustment, and make a manual adjustment of the field size in five levels. The main system components are sensor, servo motor, microcontroller and user interface. The development of each of these items as well as their integration, was described and explored. A prototype was built and with this were carried out tests to verify its efficacy, proven by means of measurements and data collection via serial communication.
