dc.description.abstractThe present work pretends to contribute to a better understanding of the use of residue rubber tires as an input for paving within the civil engineering, to help to a better performance of asphalt pavements, as well as giving an environmentally appropriate destination for old tires. The desirability of providing an ecological adequate disposal to waste tires and improvement technique that combines the asphalt binder, with its modification provided by rubber, are the great motivators of using this type of ligand. It is known that an asphalt mixture should not present inadequate amount of ligand, as a lack or excess asphalt are usually the cause of defects that appear in surface. These defect provide a low-end performance of the pavement, which should always provide comfort, security and cost savings for users. Some problems can also arise because of low quality materials. Based on this context, this works pretends to analyze the advantages and disadvantages of using this material and evaluate the technical viability of this use. In a comparative study with projects carried out with conventional asphalt, application of rubberized asphalt proved to be more financially viable in long term.
