The feeding behavior can be modified by cattle through the type, quantity, food accessibility and management practices. Thus, the aim of this study was to evaluate, during the winter period, the feeding behavior of Jersey heifers race in oat pastures, submitted or not supplementation with concentrated at night. The work was conducted at the Unit of Teaching and Research of Dairy Cattle (UNEPE) in the Universidade Tecnológica Federal do Paraná- UTFPR, Campus Dois Vizinhos. For the evaluation, we used nine heifers Jersey race, between 10 and 15 months old, with average weight of 289 kg. The pasture was available only during the day, consisting of oat cv. IPR 61, sown in May 2015. For treatments with supplementation concentrate was used based on corn and soybean meal containing 18% crude protein and 70% TDN, provided in the amount of 0.5 and 1.0% of body weight (BW). They were evaluated grazing time, rumination and idleness. The experimental design was completely randomized with three treatments (percentage supplementation - 0.0, 0.5 and 1.0% LW) and three repetitions (heifers). The animals were adapted to the proposed system, and data collection occurred from the seventh day of adaptation, on June 19, 2015. Observations were made every 10 minutes over a 24 hour period. The collected data were submitted to analysis of variance and is used polynomial regression analysis at 5% probability of error. It was found that there was no significant difference between behavioral variables, and stood mean duration of grazing, leisure and rumination 532, 562 and 345 minutes, respectively. Therefore, the high quality of the pasture supplied the nutritional needs of Jersey heifers , which contributed to not detectassem effects of supplements.
