dc.descriptionEl objetivo del trabajo es, establecer los niveles séricos de glucosa del personal de la Universidad de Los Andes y sus familiares, y determinar si las variables edad y género del paciente presentan algún efecto significativo respecto a este analito. Se llevó a cabo un estudio retrospectivo descriptivo en 630 pacientes ambulatorios que asistieron al Laboratorio Clínico del Centro Asistencial Médico Integral de la Universidad de Los Andes, CAMIULA, durante el período 2003 - 2004, entre profesor, familiar de profesor, trabajador, familiar de trabajador y estudiante. Se consideraron sus niveles de glucosa, determinados mediante el método de glucosa hexoquinasa; así como su relación con las variables edad y género. Se usó el método estadístico Análisis de Varianza Factorial de Dos Vías (ANOVA) para verificar la significancia estadística de cada variable respecto al analito glucosa. Tanto el género como la edad mostraron un efecto significativo en la glucosa del paciente (p < 0,05), más no su interacción (p > 0,05), por lo cual, se obtuvieron intervalos de referencia para cada género y por grupos de edad; y al comparar con el equipo de reactivo usado se observó que los valores obtenidos se encuentran por encima de estos.
dc.descriptionThe aim of this study is to establish the sera glucos e l evels f rom the us ers of the Cl inical Laboratory of Integrated Medical Care Center at the Univer si ty o f Los Andes (CAMIULA) , and to determine if the age and gender of the patient shows any significant effect on this analyte. A retrospective study in 630 outpatients who attended the Clinical Laboratory of CAMIULA, during the period of 2003 to 2004, including professors, professors' family, workers, workers' family and students was conducted. Their glucose levels, determined by the hexokinase glucose method, as well as its relationship with the variables of age and gender were considered. The statistical method 2-ways factor analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used to verify the stati stical significance of each variable in relation to the analyte glucose. Both gender and age showed a significant effect on the patient's glucose (p <0.05), but not its interaction (p> 0.05); therefore, reference intervals for each gender and age groups were obtained, and comparing with the reagent kit used it was observed that our values are higher than these.
