dc.descriptionEl presente artículo expone los resultados obtenidos a través de una investigación cuyo propósito fundamental fue el de describir y analizar los modismos y expresiones idiomáticas que usan los hablantes de Minnesota y Pennsylvania, y sus posibles equivalentes en el español venezolano, con el fi n de elaborar un glosario. Dicho estudio se enmarcó bajo la modalidad de investigación de Campo de tipo Descriptiva, con un enfoque etnográfi co pues se recogieron las voces en los estados mencionados y se explica su signifi cación particular. La muestra está representada por 16 informantes, 8 hablantes del estado de Minnesota, y 8 del estado de Pennsylvania. La recolección de datos se llevó a cabo mediante entrevistas y anotaciones directas. Debe destacarse que el glosario se encuentra integrado por ochenta y uno (81) lemas, distribuidas de la siguiente manera: 42 frases pluriverbales, 23 sustantivos, 4 adjetivos, 2 adverbios, 7 interjecciones y 3 slogan culturales, a las cuales se les dio un tratamiento lexicográfi co; es decir, se les asigna su defi nición, el equivalente en español, las marcas gramaticales, los contextos y observaciones pertinentes; y por último, este estudio permite explorar las distintas formas de abordar el vocabulario para las personas en contacto con el idioma inglés.
dc.descriptionThis article reports the results found through study carried out with the fundamental purpose of describing and analyzing idioms and idiomatic expressions used by speakers of Minnesota and Pennsylvania, and their possible equivalents in Venezuelan Spanish, in order to develop a glossary of these voices. This study was framed under the descriptive field research modality, with an ethnographic approach since the voices in the mentioned states were collected and their signifi cance is explained. The sample is represented by 16 informants, 8 speakers from the state of Minnesota, and 8 from the state of Pennsylvania. Data collection was carried out through interviews and direct notes. It should be noted that the glossary is made up of eighty-one (81) slogan, distributed as follows: 42 phrases, 23 nouns, 4 adjectives, 2 adverbs, 7 interjections, and 3 cultural slogan; to which a lexicographic treatment was given; In other words, they are assigned their defi nition, the equivalent in Spanish, the grammatical marks, the pertinent contexts and observations; and fi nally, this study allows us to explore the diff erent ways of approaching vocabulary for people in contact with the English language.
