dc.descriptionThis translation of Darko Suvin’s essay titled On the Poetics of the Science Fiction Genre, deals with filling the theoretical and poetic gap in the growing development of Latin American science fiction so as to offer to both critics and writers of science fiction a material for discussing on this topic. Suvin posits here some key concepts of his sociological poetics, i.e., the concept of cognitive-estrangement and the notion of novum. Also, some differences are established in relation to other genres (e.g. the fairy tales and fantasy).en-US

Suvin plantea aquí algunos conceptos clave de su poética sociológica, como el concepto de extrañamiento cognitivo y el de novum. Asimismo, se establecen algunas diferencias importantes entre el género de la ciencia ficción y otros géneros (por ejemplo: los cuentos de hadas y la fantasía).es-ES
