| dc.description | For organizations, the transition to a new context called the knowledge society is focused on their transformation into learning organizations, and their new strategies are supported by knowledge. Education in general and especially university education, are facing a new challenge that questions the direction twenty-first-century higher education institutions should take. This article describes university education management in the context of the knowledge society through a review of available literature on the subject. Conclusions are that when higher education management takes a leading role in producing knowledge that is useful for society, it contributes substantially to the collective welfare. | en-US |
| dc.description | Para las organizaciones, el tránsito hacia un nuevo contexto denominado Sociedad del Conocimiento se orienta a su transformación a entidades que aprenden, y es en el conocimiento donde se sustentan sus nuevas estrategias. La educación en general y en forma particular la educación universitaria se encuentra ante un nuevo de desafío que cuestiona el rumbo que deberán tomar las instituciones de educación universitaria en el siglo XXI. El presente artículo describe a la gerencia de la educación universitaria en el contexto de la sociedad del conocimiento, mediante la revisión de bibliografía disponible sobre el tema. Se concluye, que la gerencia de la educación universitaria al asumir un papel protagónico en la producción de conocimientos útiles a la sociedad, que contribuye sustancialmente al bienestar colectivo. | es-ES |
