| dc.description | El chimó, producto derivado del tabaco, de fabricación artesanal, en forma de pasta blanda negruzca, ha sido utilizado por nuestros campesinos desde tiempos precolombinos y constituye en nuestro país, la forma principal del llamado tabaco de uso oral o tabaco masticable, causando alteraciones a nivel de la mucosa oral con daño tisular. En este trabajo se determinó la calidad microbiológica de cuatro presentaciones comerciales de chimó de uso frecuente en el estado Mérida-Venezuela, sembrándolas, después de una solubilización en agua peptonada estéril, en placas con medio agar plate count, agar sangre y agar infusión cerebro corazón las cuales fueron incubados a 37oC en condiciones de aerobiosis y las dos últimas también en condiciones de microaerofilia. Adicionalmente, las muestras también se sembraron en placas con medio agar sabouraud-dextrosa con incubación a 25oC por 5 días. Luego del tiempo de incubación, no se observó crecimiento bacteriano, pero si abundante crecimiento fúngico de los géneros Rhizopus, Aspergillus, Rhodotorula, Fusarium, Penicillium, Helminthosporium, y Hormodendrum. Estos géneros no se encuentran habitualmente en el humano pero pueden llegar a ocasionar daños en la salud de los consumidores, especialmente, de los inmunocomprometidos, causando micosis oportunistas. También pueden ocasionar intoxicaciones por la acción de las micotoxinas que son productos tóxicos elaborados por distintos tipos de hongos, y que pueden incluso, resultar carcinogénicas. | |
| dc.description | Chimó, a hand made product derived from tobacco, in the shape of soft blackish pasta has been used by our farmers from pre-Columbian time and constitutes in our country the main form of the so-called tobacco for oral use or chewing tobacco, causing alterations in the oral mucous membrane with tissue damage. In this work the microbiological characterization of four commercial chimó presentations of frequent use in the state of Merida-Venezuela was made. Samples were diluted with sterile peptone water and then cultured in different media: plate count agar, blood agar and brain heart infusion agar, which were incubated at 37oC under aerobic conditions and the last two were also incubated under microaerobic conditions, the samples were also seeded in sabouraud dextrose agar media and incubated at 25oC for 5 days. After the incubation period bacterial growth was not observed in any of the cultured media different from the abundant fungal growth observed specially from the genus Rhizopus, Aspergillus, Rhodotorula, Fusarium, Penicillium, Helminthosporium, y Hormodendrum which are not habitually found in humans but could cause health damage in chimó consumers specially those who are immunodepressed and sensible to opportunistic mycosis as well as intoxication by mycotoxins which are toxic metabolites produced by different kind of fungi which can be carcinogenic. | |
