dc.descriptionIn the 19th century, Venezuelan painting is determined and establishes new images that educate people between new and old beliefs, personified in the figure of the hero, where men are exalted through courage, sacrifice for patriotic ideals. These elements have already been used by artists of previous periods and, they announce precepts of a modernity that will be in charge of civilizing the Latin American man to equal itto the European man. This Latin American modernity is presented through the hero in the painting, as a symbol of independence, liberation, creating a new history from the painting, as evidenced in the representation of The Death of Athanasius Girardot in Barbara in 1883, made byChristopher Rojas, who uses the tragic as a historical fact from a poetic, romantic and moving.en-US
dc.descriptionEl siglo XIX, en la pintura venezolana se determina e instaura nuevas imágenes que educan al pueblo entre nuevas y viejas creencias, personificadas en la figura del héroe, donde los hombres son exaltados a través del valor, del sacrificio por ideales patrióticos. Estos elementos ya hansido utilizados por artistas de periodos precedentes y, los mismos anuncian preceptos de una modernidad que se encargará de civilizar al hombre latinoamericano para igualarlo al hombre europeo. Esta modernidad latinoamericana, se presenta por medio del héroe en lapintura, como símbolo de independencia, de la liberación, creando una nueva historia a partir del cuadro, como se evidencia en la representación de La muerte de Atanasio Girardot en Bárbula en 1883, realizado por Cristóbal Rojas, quien usa lo trágico como hecho histórico desde un punto devista poético, romántico y conmovedor.es-ES
