| dc.description | A urinary tract infection (UTI) is an infection in the urinary tract that includes the bladder, urethra, kidneys and ureters. Urinary tract infection (UTI) is a problem that is frequently seen in the elderly, especially in the elderly who live in nursing homes or have prolonged hospitalizations, where the incidence reaches up to 50%, mainly due to prostration, the deficiencies in hygiene and the procedures to which they are often subjected, as for example, surveys. The study aimed to determine the frequency of elderly people with UI in the Santa Rita household. A general urine analysis was carried out on August 27, 2019 in which 29 of the 43 residents of the Santa Rita household participated, the urine was collected in collecting bottles and subsequently a general urine test (physical, chemical, microscopic examination) and Gram staining was performed. Of the 29 urine samples of the elderly in the Santa Rita Home, 3 samples tested positive for UI being of these three, two urine samples of women were detected the presence of nitrites and abundant amount of gram negative Bacilli, which is a evidence for a positive UTI; one of a male where uric acid crystals were observed and abundant amount of Gram negative Bacilli and sporadic amount of Gram positive Cocci. | en-US |
| dc.description | Una infección del tracto urinario (ITU) es una infección en el aparato urinario que incluye a la vejiga, la uretra, los riñones y los uréteres. La infección del tracto urinari (ITU) es un problema que se ve con frecuencia en el adulto mayor, sobre todo en los ancianos que viven en casas de reposo o que tienen hospitalizaciones prolongadas, donde la incidencia llega hasta un 50%, debido principalmente a la postración, las deficiencias en la higiene y a los procedimientos a los que muchas veces son sometidos, como, por ejemplo, los sondeos. (Alemana, 2011) El estudio tuvo como objetivo determinar la frecuencia de ancianos con infecciones del tracto urinario (ITU) en el hogar Santa Rita Se realizó el 27 de agosto de 2019 un análisis general de orina en el que participaron 29, de los 43 residentes del hogar Santa Rita, se recolectó la orina en frascos colectores y posteriormente se realizó un examen general de orina (examen físico, químico, microscópico) y tinción de Gram. De las 29 muestras de orina, 3 muestras dieron positivo para Infecciones del tracto Urinarias (ITU) siendo de estas tres, dos muestras de orina de mujeres, se detectó la presencia de nitritos y abundante cantidad de Bacilos Gram negativo, lo cual es un indicio para una Infección del tracto urinario (ITU) positiva; una de varón donde se observó cristales de ácido úrico y abundante cantidad de Bacilos Gram negativos y esporádica cantidad de Cocos Gram positivos. | es-ES |
