| dc.description | Energy drink sare widely distributed, their consumption has increased due to easy access, its stimulant properties and safety features attributed to them. A little knowledge of its features is confusing with sports drinks to use the mindis criminately, although sports drinks seek to prevent dehydration and energizer shave a stimulating effect, we present the case of a 23 year old male who visited our hospital to present altered state of consciousness with hallucinations and disorientation with a history of eating energize Red Bull type 6 cansper day during the last 10 days before coming to the consultation. Penetratingin internal medicine with the diagnosis of acute Confusional Syndrome after I present supraventricular tachycardia was transferred to ICU where they perform all imaging studies. CT Lumbarand Laboratories all negative for structural and infectious pathology, toxicology laboratory reports very high doses of taurine in plasma, patient was transferred to a rehabilitation center with a residual irreversible nerve damage. | en-US |
| dc.description | Las bebidas energizantes tienen amplia distribución, su consumo ha aumentado debido al fácil acceso, sus propiedades estimulantes y a las características de inocuidad que se les atribuyen. El poco conocimiento de sus características lleva a confusión con las bebidas hidratantes usándolas de forma indiscriminada, aunque las bebidas hidratantes buscan prevenir la deshidratación y las energizantes tienen un efecto estimulante, presentamos el caso de un paciente de 23 años de sexo masculino que acude a nuestro nosocomio por presentar alteración del estado de conciencia con alucinaciones y desorientación con antecedente de haber ingerido energizarte tipo Red Bull 6 latas por día durante los últimos 10 días ante de acudir a la consulta. Internándose en medicina interna con el diagnostico de Síndrome Confusional agudo y posterior a eso presento Taquicardia supraventricular fue transferido a UTI donde se realizan todos los estudios de gabinete. TAC, Punción Lumbar y Laboratorios todos negativos para patología estructural e infecciosa, el laboratorio toxicológico reporta altísima concentración de taurina en plasma, paciente fue trasferido a un centro de rehabilitación quedando como secuela daño neural irreversible. | es-ES |
