dc.descriptionThe article analyzes the role of explanations in the mathematics class, first semester of engineering, when the notion of variation is being used by three professors and when students intervene about this notion. Using a qualitative-interpretative approach, data collection is obtained from the recording of recordings and transcripts of class sessions that were analyzed. The participation of students and teachers is analyzed from a gender perspective that affirms that the relations between men and women can be explained when the different ideas and beliefs that societies elaborate are understood.en-US
dc.descriptionEn el artículo se analiza el papel de las explicaciones en la clase de matemáticas, primer semestre de ingeniería, cuando la noción de variación está siendo usada por tres profesores y cuando los estudiantes intervienen a propósito de dicha noción. Mediante un enfoque cualitativo-interpretativo, la recopilación de datos se obtiene del registrode grabaciones y de las transcripciones de sesiones de clase que fueron analizadas. La participación de los estudiantes y profesores es analizada desde la perspectiva de género que afirma que las relaciones entre hombres y mujeres pueden explicarse cuando se comprenden las diferentes ideas y creencias que las sociedades elaboran.es-ES
