dc.descriptionIn order to characterize the birds’ route through Portachuelo Pass in Rancho Grande, in the Henri Pittier National Park, Venezuela, an inventory of the species was carrie doutby researcher sof the Rancho Grande Biological Station "Dr.Alberto Fernández Yépez" of the Faculty of Agronomy of the Central University of Venezuela and the Friends of the Henri Pittier National Park Scientific Society. A total of 418 species are recorded using Portachuelo Passas the irflightpath.The movements of birds were classified into three categories: The first category reached a record of 89 species, and includes those that migrate between different biogeographical zones, from the Nearctic to the Neotropics, during the boreal winter. The second category of migrations, but within the same Neotropical Zone, from the southern tip of South America to the North ofit, and occurring during the austral winter, reached a record of 15 species and at hird category of migration soccurring during the extreme drought season in the low lands of Venezuela, from November to May, with birds moving to higher altitude or with less extreme climatic conditions reached are cord of 55 species.The importance of Rancho Grande’s Portachuelo Pass as a migratory route and its relevance for bird movements is clearly demonstrated.en-US
dc.descriptionCon el propósito de caracterizar la ruta de aves migratorias sobre el Paso Portachuelo del Parque Nacional Henr iPittier, Venezuela, fue elaborado un inventario de las especies realizado por investigadores de la Estación Biológica de Rancho Grande “Dr. Alberto Fernández Yépez” de la Facultad de Agronomía de la Universidad Central de Venezuela y de la Sociedad Científica Amigos del Parque Nacional Henri Pittier. En total se registran 418 especies que utilizan este Paso Portachuelo de Rancho Grande como ruta de vuelo. Se clasificaron los movimientos de las aves en tres categorías: La primera categoría incluye aquellas especies que migran entre regiones biogeográficas distintas, desde la Región Neártica hasta la Región Neotropical, durante el invierno boreal la cual alcanzó un registro de 89 especies; la segunda de migraciones dentro de la misma Región Neotropical, desde el extremo sur de Suramérica hasta el norte de la misma, durante el invierno austral, alcanzando15 especies y la tercera de migraciones que ocurren durante la extrema época de sequía en Venezuela desde tierras bajas, entre noviembre a mayo, hasta tierras de mayor altitud con condiciones climáticas menos extremas que alcanzan 55 especies. Queda demostrada así la importancia del Portachuelo como ruta migratoria de aves.es-ES
