dc.descriptionThis article analyzes Salvador Brau's narrative strategy to transgress the limits of the historiographic discourse that was practiced in Puerto Rico in the late Nineteenth Century. The boundaries between history and literature were so defined that each one was about a specific type of priest. Brau uses literature to tell the life of a cleric that did not belong to historiography at that time. The term transvestite is used as a metaphor to describe the narrative strategy.en-US
dc.descriptionEn este artículo se analiza Ia estrategia narrativa seguida por Salvador Brau para transgredir los límites del discurso historiográfico que se practicaba en el Puerto Rico de fines del siglo XIX. Las fronteras entre la historia y la literatura estaban tan delimitadas que cada una de ellas trataba a un tipo específico de sacerdote. Brau utiliza la literatura para contar la vida de un clérigo que no tenía cabida en la historiografía de su época. El termino travestir se emplea como metáfora que describe la estrategia narrativa.es-ES
