dc.descriptionThe article identifies the degree of knowledge possessed by in directors and executives of medium and big companies, regarding to telework and it determines the degree of utilization of this labor modality for organizations oriented to the service sector located in a central geographic area of Chile (Region on the Maule) that has a population close to one million of inhabitants. The informaiton comes from a questionnaire and focus groups. The universe of institutions was composed by 195 service entities, of medium and big size, located in the main cities of the territory. Talca, Curico and Linares, costituting a sample of 143 cases. A probability sampling procedure, random and proportionally stratified was implemented according to the criteria of annual sales, geographic location and economic activity sector. The data was statistically analyzed with significance tests. The main results show that in more than 50% of the organizations, the cultural and human variables are important for any way of work and that the lack of technologies and means of information transport and communication to telework, make it impossible. It emphasizes a high disposition to use it. In the organizations, the hierarchical levels with bigger knowledge of the topic were the superior executives. Pointing out significant differences among the organizations that apply or not the telework in these performance levels.en-US
dc.descriptionEl articulo identifica el grado de conocimiento respecto del teletrabajo que existe en directivos y ejecutivos de empresas medianas y grandes, y determina el grado de utilización de esta modalidad laboral por organizaciones orientadas al sector de servicios localizados en una zona geográfica central de Chile (Región de Maule), que tiene una población cercana al millón de habitantes. La información proviene tanto de un cuestionario como de grupos focalizados. El universo de instituciones estuvo conformado por 195 entidades de servicio de tamaño mediano y grande, localizadas en las principales ciudades del territorio (Talca, Curicó y Linares) constituyéndose un muestra de 143 casos. Se empleó un procedimiento muestral probabilístico, aleatorio y estratificado proporcional de acuerdo con los criterios de ventas anuales, localización geográfica y sector de actividad económica. Los datos fueron analizados estadísticamente con pruebas de significación. Los principales resultados muestran que en más del 50% de las organizaciones, las variables socioculturales y humanas son importantes para cualquier forma de trabajo y que la falta de tecnologías y medios de transporte de información y comunicación para teletrabajar, lo hacen imposible. Destaca una alta disposición para utilizarlo. En las organizaciones, los niveles jerárquicos con mayor conocimiento del tema fueron los ejecutivos superiores. Señalandose diferencias significativas entre las organizaciones que aplican o no el teletrabajo en estos niveles de desempeño.es-ES
