dc.description Venezuela is still an almost virgin field for naturalists, with vast regions quite unexplored by botanists or zoologists. The older naturalists, such as Loefling, Von Jacquin, Humboldt, Bondplant, Pleé, Vargas, Moritz, Spruce and others, collected mostly flowering plants and the larger or more conspicuous animals, but even their botanical records are far from complete.en-US
