dc.descriptionA study was conducted to describe the pubescence in four genotypes (lines A-429, DOR-303, 27-R and PC-50) of the common bean, Phaseolus vulgaris L., known to vary in field reaction to bean golden mosaic. Only two types of non-glandular trichomes were observed in the lines tested. The trichomes were of the unciform and acerate types. Significant differences were detected between the abaxial and axial surfaces of the leaves. Trichomes varied both in size and density depending on the type of leaf. Line A-429 displayed the highest pubescence and also showed the highest number of trichomes per square centimeter. Line DOR-303 showed the highest density of unciform trichomes, but of smaller size than those of the other four limes. More acerate than unciform trichomes were detected on the underside of the leaf of line PC-50. In general, line 27-R was the line with the highest trichome density and also the line that with greater regularity possessed both types of trichomes.en-US
dc.descriptionSe estudió la pubescencia de cuatro genotipos de Phaseolus vulgaris L. que bajo condiciones de campo demostraron diferencias en la reacción al virus del mosaico dorado. Las hojas de los genotipos A-429, DOR-303, 27-R y PC-50 mostraron sólo dos tipos de tricomas sin glándulas. Estos tricomas son aciculares (en forma de aguja) y unciformes (en forma de gancho). Entre el haz y envés de las hojas de los cuatro genotipos evaluados hubo diferencias en densidad y tamaño de los dos tipos de tricomas. Los tricomas en las hojas de cada uno do los genotipos varían tanto en número como en tamaño según el tipo de hoja. La línea A-429 fue la de hojas menos pubescentes y con menos densidad de tricomas por centímetro cuadrado. La línea DOR-303 mostró un mayor densidad de tricomas unciformes, pero de menor tamaño. En la variedad PC-50 hubo más tricomas aciculares en el envés que tricomas unciformes. En términos generales, la variedad 27-R fue la de mayor densidad de tricomas y en la que con mayor regularidad se encontraron los dos tipos de tricomas.es-ES
