| dc.description | Postharvest behavior of cassava cultivars Forastera, Llanera and Serrallés (white type) and Tremesiana (yellow type) was evaluated by pruning the plants and harvesting at different weekly intervals. Stored cassava roots kept in polyethylene bags after harvest were evaluated and compared with those stored without polyethylene bags. Cassava roots of the white type presented minimum or no deterioration up to 15 days when pruned and harvested the same day and stored in polyethylene bags. Cassava roots not stored in polyethylene bags deteriorated 3 days after harvest. Tremesiana cultivar deteriorated in 3 days whether stored in polyethylene bags or without them. Cassava roots harvested 1 to 2 weeks after pruning and stored without polyethylene bags deteriorated less than the ones pruned and harvested the same day. Roots stored in polyethylene bags deteriorated more than the ones pruned and harvested the same day. The roots harvested 3 weeks after pruning and stored in polyethylene bags or without them deteriorated the same as or less than those pruned and harvested the same day. Cassava roots of cultivars Forastera and Serrallés pruned and harvested the same day and stored in polyethylene bags were acceptable after 6 or 12 days in storage. The roots of cassava harvested 1 or 2 weeks after pruning and stored in polyethylene bags or without them showed great deterioration; thus no sensorial test was performed. Cassava roots harvested 3 weeks after pruning and stored in polyethylene bags or without bags were acceptable in a sensorial test after 6 and 12 days in storage. | en-US |
| dc.description | El comportamiento poscosecha de cultivares de yuca Forastera, Llanera y Serrallés (tipo blanco) y Tremesiana (tipo amarillo) se evaluó podando la planta, cosechando a intervalos semanales y almacenando las raíces en bolsas de polietileno o sin bolsa a temperatura ambiente. Los resultados mostraron que las yucas del tipo blanco no se deterioraron; se deterioraron solo levemente cuando se podaron y cosecharon el mismo día y se almacenaron en bolsas de polietileno por no más de 15 días. Sin embargo, las raíces que no se almacenaron en bolsas de polietileno se deterioraron a los 3 días de almacenadas. La cultivar Tremesiana se deterioro a los 3 días independientemente de que se almacenara o no en bolsas de polietileno. Las raíces cosechadas 1 ó 2 semanas después de la poda y almacenadas sin bolsas de polietileno se deterioraron ligeramente menos que las podadas y cosechadas el mismo día. Sin embargo, las raíces almacenadas en bolsas de polietileno en este período se deterioraron que las ligeramente más que las podadas y cosechadas el mismo día. Las raíces de yuca cosechadas 3 semanas después de la poda sufrieron igual o menos deterioro que las cosechadas el mismo día de la poda y almacenadas en bolsas de polietileno o sin ellas, respectivamente. En las pruebas sensoriales llevadas a cabo las raíces de yuca de las cultivares Forastera y Serrallés cosechadas el mismo día de la poda fueron aceptables a los 6 y 12 días de almacenamiento en bolsas de polietileno. Las cosechadas 1 y 2 semanas después de la poda y almacenadas en bolsas de polietileno o sin bolsa, fueron de pobre calidad debido a su rápido deterioro. Las cultivares Forastera y Serrallés fueron aceptables a los 6 y 12 días de almacenamiento cuando se cosecharon 3 semanas después de la poda y se almacenaron en bolsas de polietileno o sin ellas. | es-ES |
