dc.descriptionTo make a correct diagnosis in orthodontics it is very important to know the relationship between hard and soft tissues. Objective. To characterize the measurements of the facial profile of soft tissues in students of School of Dentistry at the Central Universidad Central del Ecuador (FOUCE) period 2020-2020. Materials and Methods. Cross-sectional study, with a sample made up of 60 students (30 women and 30 men) between 18 and 25 years of age who met the inclusion criteria. After signing the informed consent, a photograph of the facial profile was taken in a natural head position. Soft tissue facial profile angles were identified and measured with the Viewbox program. The data were analyzed with the SPSS software applying the T-Student test with p value 0.05 to identify differences in the measurements between men and women. Results. The average values of the facial profile of soft tissues of the nasofrontal angle (GN-Nd, p = 0.019), projection of the upper lip-chin (N-Pg / N-Ls, p = 0.006), projection of the lower lip chin and upper lip angle (Sn-Ls / Sn - Pg, p = 0.000) had statistically significant differences between men and women. Conclusions. A significant sexual dimorphism phenomenon in the parameters of the nasofrontal angle, were found. Projection of the upper lip chin, projection of the lower lip chin and angle of the upper lip that must be considered when diagnosing adult individuals.en-US
dc.descriptionConocer la relación entre los tejidos duros y blandos es muy importante al momento de hacer correctamente un diagnóstico y un plan de tratamiento en ortodoncia. Objetivo. Caracterizar las medidas del perfil facial de los tejidos blandos en estudiantes de la Facultad de Odontología de la Universidad Central del Ecuador (FOUCE) en el período 2020-2020. Materiales y Métodos. Estudio observacional, conformada por una muestra de 60 estudiantes de la FOUCE (30 mujeres y 30 hombres) entre los 18 y 25 años que cumplieron con los criterios de inclusión. Posterior a la firma del consentimiento informado se realizó una toma fotográfica del perfil facial en posición natural de cabeza. Se identificaron y midieron los ángulos del perfil facial de tejidos blandos con el programa Viewbox. Los datos se analizaron con el software SPSS aplicando la prueba T-Student con un valor de p= 0.05 para identificar diferencias en las medidas entre hombres y mujeres. Resultados. Los valores promedio del perfil facial de tejidos blandos del ángulo nasofrontal (G-N-Nd, p= 0.019), proyección del labio superior-mentón (N-Pg/N-Ls, p= 0.006), proyección del labio inferior mentón (N-Pg/N-Li, p=0,28) y ángulo del labio superior (Sn-Ls/ Sn – Pg, p= 0.000) tuvieron diferencias estadísticamente significativas entre hombres y mujeres. Conclusiones. Existe un fenómeno de dimorfismo sexual significativo en los parámetros del ángulo nasofrontal, proyección del labio superior mentón, proyección del labio inferior mentón y ángulo del labio superior que debe tenerse en cuenta al diagnosticar individuos adultos.es-ES
