dc.descriptionIn this essay on Eugenio María de Hostos´ work we will carry out an unusual analysis. Firstly, around his conception of history as science. Secondly, in relation to his vision of the 19th century Dominican society, a community in which he was a leading actor in his material, cultural, educational, moral, and spiritual evolution. That said, in this essay you will not find a complacent perspective with the Dominican-Puerto Rican teacher's thinking about the nineteenth-century Dominican society, but an objective and critical heuristic and hermeneutical perspective, in tune with the advances of the social sciences, history and anthropology of the last centuries, although contextualizing it in his time and based on the conceptions he assumed at that time.en-US
dc.descriptionEn este ensayo sobre la obra de Eugenio María de Hostos procederemos a realizar un análisis poco usual. En primer lugar, en torno a su concepción de la  historia como ciencia. Y, en segundo lugar, en relación con su visión respecto de la sociedad dominicana del siglo XIX, colectividad de la que fue un actor de primer orden en su evolución material, cultural, educativa, moral y espiritual. Ahora bien, en este ensayo no encontrarán una perspectiva complaciente con el pensamiento del maestro domínico-puertorriqueño en torno a la sociedad dominicana decimonónica, sino una perspectiva heurística y hermenéutica objetiva y crítica, a tono con los avances de las ciencias sociales, la historia y la antropología de los últimos siglos, aunque contextualizándolo en su época y en función de las concepciones que asumió para entonces.es-ES
