dc.descriptionNine dominican textbooks and nine haitian textbooks from the elementary and secondary levels are compared. Several aspects are analyzed such as: the similarities and differences in relation to the reproduction or not of the Official History, the indifference towards the “other”, the gender approach, the historical errors as well as chronological jumps and anachronisms, the Dessalines campaigns in 1805, the period 1822-1844, the campaigns from 1844 to 1857, the border treaties, and the dominican-haitian relations in the 19th century. Moreover, the “Rubalcaba” issue is compared. Prejudice and discrimination against the “other”, the 1937 massacre and the haitian migration are also compared. Data that contradict the belief spread in the Dominican Republic that the haitian textbooks are taught to hate dominicans are shown.en-US
dc.descriptionSe comparan 9 libros de texto dominicanos y 9 haitianos de los niveles primario y secundario. Se analizan las similitudes y diferencias en relación a la reproducción o no de la Historia Oficial, la indiferencia frente al “otro”, el enfoque de género, los errores históricos, saltos cronológicos y anacronismos, las campañas de Dessalines en 1805, el período 1822-1844, las campañas 1844-1857, los tratados fronterizos y las relaciones domínico-haitianas en el siglo XIX. También se compara el asunto “Rubalcaba”, el prejuicio y discriminación hacia el “otro”, la masacre de 1937 y la migración haitiana. Se presentan datos que contradicen la creencia difundida en la República Dominicana en el sentido de que en los libros de texto haitianos se enseña a odiar a los dominicanos.es-ES
