dc.description | Abstract: The present research arises from the needs observed during the
exercise of the University Community Service made by the author in the
Unit of Autism from the Maternity Concepción Palacios (Hospital), in the
city of Caracas, specifically the need for support to teachers who work
with the children who attend this dependency as patients. The children
receive care medical and therapies, and their family members have
referred to the need to orient teachers and the educational institution for a
better integration of the child in the school context. It is because of this
that creates the Coordination of Support to the Teacher, with the aim of
offering support to the institution and to the teaching staff through the
application of basic induction among other strategies workshops. He
found, after applying a diagnostic instrument to a sample of the teaching
population served by this Community Service, significant needs for the
treatment of children with Autism Spectrum Disorders. After this
diagnostic phase, he inquired about what the minimum skills required to
know a teacher to work with these students and the recommendations. As
a result it is proposed a basic guide with content monitored, reviewed and
validated by the multidisciplinary team of this unit.
