| dc.description | La osificación de la mano durante la etapa prenatal, ha sido descrita por diferentes investigadores, los datos publicados, son escasos y presentan variantes. Por ello decidimos investigar la secuencia y ver si presentan algún patrón de aparición. Empleamos 146 esqueletos de fetos humanos, con edades gestacionales entre la semana 8 y la 40. Luego de medidos fueron fijados en formol neutro al 10 % y deshidratados con alcohol isopropílico. Se utilizó Alizarina roja para teñir las sales de calcio. La secuencia de aparición de los centros de osificación observada en nuestra serie fue la siguiente: 1- En la semana 8 los cinco metacarpianos. 2- En la semana 9, la falange proximal de los dedos 1, 2, 3,4 y 5. 3- En La semana 11, la falange media de los dedos 2, 3, 4 y 5. 4- En la semana 12, falange distal de los dedos 1, 2, 3, 4 y 5. Palabras clave: Centros de Osificación, mano, fetos humanos.SUMMARY The prenatal hand ossification has being studied by several workers, the published data is scarce, and have differences among them. That encouraged us to study the sequence of appearance of the ossification centers. The studied sample had 146 fetal squeletons, whose gestational ages were from 8 to 40 weeks. They were carefully measured, and 10 % formalin fixed, afterwards they were isopropyl dehydrated. Red Alizarin was employed for staining the bone nuclei. In the sample we observed: 1. At the 8th week, started the ossification process of the 5 metacarpals. 2. In the proximal phalanxes of the five fingers it started at the 9th week. 3. In the middle phalanxes of 2, 3, 4 and 5th fingers it starts on the 11th week. 4. At the 12th week the ossification starts in all the distal phalanxes.
