Influencia de la buccalina ® en la concentración de streptococcus mutans en saliva total

Abstract

A longitudinal study was conducted in 28 children 6 years of age to determine the influence of BUCCALINA ® in the concentration of Streptococcus mutans in whole saliva The concentration of Streptococcus mutans in whole saliva of all children was measured before the experiment. 14 randomly selected children were vaccinated and 14 received placebo. After 37 days, the concentration of Streptococcus mutans in whole saliva of all children was measured. The student´s t was used to determine the difference between groups, it was found a significant reduction in the concentration of Streptococcus mutans in the experimental group (from 24071,429 to 11214.286) and an increase in the control group (from 29500,000 to 34578.571) after application the BUCCALINA ® with a significant difference between the experimental and control groups: p< 0.01. The reduction in the experimental group before and after the application of the vaccine was also significant: p <0.01. Conclusion: There was significant reduction in the concentration of S. mutans in whole saliva by the action of BUCCALINA ®.
