dc.description.abstractThis paper reviews the literature on the Cobb Douglas production function, using it to explain the behavior of capital and labor production factors in the banana sector of the Machala canton. For this reason, surveys were carried out to small producers and existing statistical information was reviewed. In some public institutions and private organizations oriented to banana production and export, an important sector for the local economy, finding that the data provided by the function determine that the use of capital is greater than that of labor, but that the total elasticity does not show increasing returns in terms of production in dollars per box.
