dc.description.abstractIntroduction: The death certificate is a legal medical document which allows us to organize the causes of death of a person sequentially and logically, in the world there are sub registries and biases of the death rate due to the misuse of the death certificate ; in cases of accidental and / or violent deaths, the constitution of each country must be considered for the issuance of the death certificate since it varies from one country to another, taking into account that this type of deaths must always be signed by a legal or medical doctor. legist. Objective: To promote the correct filling of the death certificate in cases of violent death in Ecuador. Methods: the articles that were used in this work are from platforms such as: PubMed, Scielo, Google Scholar, IntraMed; included in the period 2014 - 2018; it was included: practical protocols, courses of the Pan American Health Organization, clinical practice guide, constitution of Ecuador, virtual pages (INEC), systematic reviews. Conclusion: In the reviewed studies they conclude that in the different places of the world there is an under registration or bias at the time of filling the death certificate, many of them have put into practice public policies and training to the doctors so that there is an improvement of it, even the coding of (ICD-10) and digital death certificates have been of great help in registering violent deaths, avoiding alteration in the country's mortality rate.
