The production design or art direction is a fundamental pillar within film professions. Over the years it has established its importance and the need for necessary criteria to give life to the characters and the world around them. This paper develops the work process in the short film "Historia Uno" written and directed by Alfonso Vallejo Chavez. Student from the Film and Media career at the University of Cuenca. Aesthetic concepts of several visual references are combined for choosing color palettes, scenery, props, costumes and makeup of characters. The Neutrality or des-identity is the premise that determines the election of locations, values planes, casting and final proposal for art direction.
