| dc.description.abstract | Background: Some of the biggest challenges for pediatricians are liver diseases in children and adolescents because of their wide range of pathologies, subdivided into several others. Among the most prevalent diseases we can find: infant cholestasis (due to common bile duct cysts or bile duct atresia), acute liver failure, congenital liver fibrosis and also genetic or congenital diseases, such as metabolic defects, benign and malignant tumors, etc.
General objective: to determine the prevalence of hepatobiliary disease in the pediatric service of Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital, January 2017-December 2018.
Methodology: a descriptive-cross-sectional study will be carried out in patients with a diagnosis of hepatobiliary disease in the pediatric service of Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital, January 2017-December 2018. For data collection, a form will be applied, containing the different variables of this study. The information obtained will be processed through the SPSS V 15 program and the analysis will be carried out through descriptive statistics using frequencies, percentages and measures of central tendency (qualitative variables). The results will be presented in simple tables.
Results: the prevalence of pancreatitis was 39.3%; liver failure 14.3%. The prevalence of hepatomegaly was 23.2%, while that of jaundice was 14.3%, and finally, the prevalence of cholestasis was 32.1%. Only 7.1% had bile duct atresia. | |
