dc.description.abstractChild undernourishment inEcuadoris avery serious problem for the public health, mainly caused byfactorsincludinginequity in accessto adequate alimentation. The nursing staff in preventing malnutrition plays an important role because they have the knowledge necessary health about the causes and effects that cause malnutrition and thus can plan activities focused on prevention of malnutrition. As mentioned above it was necessary to conduct this study to determine the role of nurses in preventing malnutrition in younger infants in the People's Medical Center Azogues, November 2013 - April 2014 This work was performed under the descriptive research designs, data were collected through a questionnaire, a structured interview, consent, lasting approximately 10-15 minutes was used during the months of November and December 2013 and January 2014, Monday to Friday from 08H00 to 14H30, except holidays. To gather information, 2 surveys were used formats, with multiple choice questions, developed by the authors of the research, which for validation underwent pilot testing with patients in the same health center. The results indicate that nurses by 33% just focus on the assessment and 16.6 the following stages of nursing care which discloses that do not perform a complete and comprehensive method applies despite it is essential to identify problems and plan activities based nursing.
