In recent years, high voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission has become technically and economically feasible, to the point that HVDC networks integrated with alternating current (AC) systems are being developed. However, only few research works address Transmission Expansion Planning (TEP) considering both AC and DC networks. To develop an AC/DC TEP, precise models are required that describe the behavior of the transmission lines and their associated converter stations in DC. In this work, it is proposed a formulation and an optimization heuristic method to solve the AC/DC TEP based on the non-convex model. The implementation is performed in Julia using well-known AC test systems: Garver 6-bus and IEEE 24-bus, and hybrid test systems: Garver AC/DC, 14-bus AC/DC system, and 39-bus AC/DC system.
