Background: the World Health Organization (WHO) states that the deficit in growth and development is subject to poor diet, with figures for 2016 close to 155 million children with stunted growth and development, due to food shortages, of inadequate child care and diseases. Objective: determine the nutritional, emotional and socioeconomic factors that influence the growth and development of CEDIUC children. Cuenca 2018. Method and Materials: quantitative research, descriptive, cross-sectional study carried out in the Child Development Center of the University of Cuenca (CEDIUC), with a universe of 166 children enrolled. The sample was calculated with the application of the formula of Pita Fernandez (2001), consisting of 60 children. Growth was determined through the proportions of height - age, weight - age, weight - height, body mass index (BMI) for age; while for the development coefficient the Brunet Lezine Scale was applied. The results were tabulated in SPSS, generating simple tables and double entry. Results: the nuclear family prevails by 53.3%; 35% of children from 6 months to 2 years have inadequate growth; with delayed development in 29 children of the same age group (48.3%). Conclusion: the nutritional, emotional and socioeconomic factors directly influence the process of growth and development of children attending CEDIUC; validating the theoretical basis.
