Dinámicas y prácticas de los viajeros procedentes de Argentina que visitan el cantón Cuenca 2019-2020

Abstract

This work arises from the need to know: how do Argentinean backpackers visiting the canton Cuenca 2019 -2020 develop their trips? Studies show that this segment of travelers is among the groups with the largest presence in the city. Despite that, information about backpackers and the development of their travels is almost null. Therefore, the main objective of this work is to know the dynamics and practices of travelers from Argentina who visit the canton Cuenca 2019-2020. In the first instance, the theoretical and statistical review was carried out on backpackers by identifying their main characteristics, then saw backpackers of Argentine nationality and the information collected was subjected to a hermeneutic analysis using ATLAS. In addition, two travel logs were generated, then qualitative analysis was carried out to determine the characteristics, travel practices and income of these travelers along their routes. Finally, an analysis of local policies was carried out in relation to this type of travelers. It can be concluded that backpackers have a totally different view about traveling than traditional tourists, moving through uncrowded places, supporting themselves with work while they travel and spending as little as possible. Therefore, backpackers, being a different and more frequent segment should be considered within the tourist planning of the city.
