dc.description.abstract | The technological capacity of the companies supports the creation of sustainable competitive advantages, which is fundamental and strategic for the growth of the same ones. Due to Latin America's lag in project management (Huchim, 2014) and given the impressive statistics of information technology (IT) projects considered as failures and their imminent degree of uncertainty in implementation, there has developed an immediate need to establish a management methodology for IT projects that mainly focuses on the generation of value towards the client, minimizes the risk and, above all, adapts to the operational reality of the small companies that provide IT services.
This document aims to develop a project management methodology for the implementation of IT base infrastructure, in order to guide the small companies providing IT services in the country. This methodology is based on the study, analysis and comparison of the frames of reference designed for Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK), Projects in controlled environment (PRINCE2), agile methodologies and Microsoft Solutions Framework (MSF), which are not specialized in the area of IT infrastructure nor adapted to the reality of companies in the south of the country. A gap analysis determines which practices are appropriate to guarantee the project life cycle and the generic process for the management of IT projects where the activities are adapted to the operational reality. Generating the methodology, an example is applied to determine the results of improvement in the management of an IT project | |
