dc.description.abstractThe purpose of this research was to identify the perception of access to formal employment by transgender and female transsexual people in the city of Cuenca. The people who participated in this research were ten transsexual and transgender women, including professionals, sex workers, and hairdressers. This study had a qualitative approach and a thematic analysis in the construction of results. For the collection of information, there were used four life stories and two focused groups. As important results, the study found the perception of transgender and transgender women about formal employment as a restricted space for them. Other results were also the perception of formal employment as a social link and a space that grants dignity to this group of people
