dc.description.abstract | In the experiment two assays were executed, the first one evaluated the
appearance of the new follicular wave after a 2 mg dose of estradiol benzoate
(EB) plus progesterone implant (CIDR® Active Progesterone 10%, 1,9 g) and 150
µg prostaglandin, in 8 Holstein mixed breed heifers with high and low antral follicle
recount (AFC). Every 24h were evaluated by ultrasound the development of the
dominant follicle (DF) and the appearance day of the new follicular wave, besides,
serum levels of Anti-müllerian Hormone (AMH) were assessed. In the assay two
the information of the first one was used, regarding the restart day of the follicular
wave, and the protocol effect was assessed on the antral follicles number
between 4 and 8 mm observed on the Ovum pick up (OPU) day, as well as, the
number and quality of COC’s in donors with high and low AFC. The animals were
treatment (with EB) and control (without EB) at a certain time, organizing in
treatment T1= High AFC with EB; T2= High AFC without EB; T3=Low AFC with
EB and T4= Low AFC without EB. The EB + P4 combination produced the restart
of the follicular wave in all heifers at 3, 8 ± 0,25 days. The COC’s recovery
percentage of T1 (81, 2 ± 4, 64) was higher compared to T2 (65,1 ± 5,99); T3
(60,3 ± 5,9) and T4 (58,6 ± 10,23). The amount of COC’s suitable for the
production of in vitro embryos (PIVE) in T1 was higher compared to T2, T3 y T4
(P<0, 05). It is concluded that treatment T1= High AFC with EB allowed to obtain
higher quantity and quality of COC’s recovered in the OPU sessions. | |
