dc.description.abstractThis investigation search to evaluate economically the willingness to pay (WTP) of the population of the Cuenca city, who are beneficiary of drinking water in urban areas and consumer surplus of national tourists who visit the Cajas National Park. The contingent valuation method (CVM) is a direct method, which is based on consumer behavior, using the indirect utility function and the logit model. The method of travel cost (MCV) is an indirect method, based on the actual behavior of people, using the compensated demand function and linear regression model. The MVC gave a WTF of $ 1,04 by year, pondering this value for all beneficiaries of the water from the Cajas National Park, the result is an Economic Value of $ 238,609.28 by year and MCV gave an annual consumer surplus of $ 35.68 and pondering by the number of visitor, we obtained an economic value of $ 1'321060,33 by year.
