dc.description.abstractThis research follows a non-experimental design, descriptive scope with a quantitative approach. It has general objective describe the level of emotional intelligence in patients with diabetes of the Foundation House of Diabetes in Cuenca, identifying the dimensions or subscales of emotional perception, emotional understanding and emotional regulation. The population was selected to convenience and was composed of 40 patients, there were 26 women and 14 men; age referred to adults between 20 and 65 years, classified in early adulthood, middle and late, and by diabetes type one or type two. Spanish Version Espinoza, Sanhueza, Ramirez and Saez of the Trait Meta-Mood Scale-24 originally made by Salovey and Mayer was used for data collection. Results provide more than half of the studied population have adequate levels in three dimensions, which is a good indication of emotional intelligence, i.e. that identify their emotions, understand them and regulate them, so that they can maintain a good state of mind.
