The purpose of this research was to identify levels of loneliness and isolation in 394 male and female adolescents between the ages of 15 and 18 who use social networks. The study was conducted with the population of the following educational institutions: "Unidad Educativa Turi" and "Colegio Técnico Industrial Ricaurte", which belong to the rural area of the Cuenca canton. This study maintained a quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional approach, with a descriptive scope that allowed detailing the variables of the study object. The instruments used in the research were the solitude and isolation questionnaire (CAS) and the social network addiction questionnaire (ARS). The data collection was carried out in the educational institutions and their subsequent analysis in an SPSS matrix. The results show that most adolescents use social networks every day for at least one hour. Likewise, it was found that there is a high risk of addiction to social networks and low risk of presenting loneliness and isolation. In conclusion, it was shown that adolescents who presented a high risk of addiction to social networks also show a tendency towards loneliness
