The aim of this study was to determine the attitudes of late adolescents at the University of Cuenca, regarding the use of contraceptive methods. For this purpose, a quantitative methodology was applied with a descriptive scope of the phenomenon inquired. The population included students from several careers of the University of Cuenca, who attended the 2016-2017 period, with ages ranging from 18 to 19 years old. The type of sample was probabilistic with proportional allocation and comprised 497 study subjects. The instrument applied consisted of a previously validated scalecalled "Attitude Scale towards Contraceptives" by Kellie Dionne Bryant (1987). By the use of this instrument, demographic data was obtained as well as information regarding the use of contraceptive methods and related attitudes. It has been found that, in most of the heterosexual, unmarried population with a beginning in the sexual relationship that happened in most of the cases before their late adolescence, there is a favorable tendency towards contraception. In addition, links between the age when sexual activity started and the disposition towards contraceptives were found.
