dc.description.abstractBACKGROUND: domestic violence has been one of the main problems affecting Ecuadorian society with no respect for age, sex, color or social position; because family conflicts that end in violence occur both in the poorest families and the high social rank, causing consequences either physical or psychological in family members. Domestic violence has become a social and health problem for which it is intended to identify through different methods or techniques to study the impact of domestic violence on academic performance among students in eighth grade. Objective: to determine the influence of domestic violence in the academic performance of students in the eighth year of the Education Unit Victor Gerardo Aguilar. (Cuenca, 2015). Methodology: quantitative research, descriptive for students of the Education Unit Victor Gerardo Aguilar in which there will be a universe of 800 students and a sample of 103 students will be randomly eighth year drawn, the methods used will be made will be the "Scale of assessment of the type and phase of violence made by Jara and Romero, 2010", "Scale of exposure to violence prepared by Orue and Calvete"; Results will be presented by SPSS database through tables. Result: 31.4% were females and 68.6% males, the kind of family is 53.5% represents the nuclear family, 26% said they have sometimes hit her or physically damaged and 4.7% indicated that they sometimes have made unwanted advances or approaches your home, 2.3% of students are in a very good academic performance, 60.5% good, and 37.2% are to poor academic performance. Of the students who have poor academic performance 9.3% were physically damaged or stuck at home, 9.3% are insulted inside your home and 1.2% are victims of unwanted advances or approaches within of your home. Conclusion: this study by the influence of domestic violence in the academic performance of students in the same influencing factors as the type of family, number of household members and also with who lives identified, it should be emphasized that students mostly suffer Fisca and psychological violence at home that is caused by any member of the family.
